Vintage 1960’s Philip Caribbean 400 World Time Diver w/Patina,Orig Band,Serviced

***********The movement, which received a complete overhaul in September 2021, keeps accurate time over its approximate 43 hour power reserve period and the date wheel rolls over as it should. Although no service paperwork will be provided my watchmaker’s service marking is etched on the inside of the case back.***********This seldom seen vintage 1960’s Philip Watch Caribbean 400 has a lovely blue “T SWISS MADE T” signed dial that has aged naturally and uniquely and the lume, which no longer glows after being exposed to bright light, has aged gracefully. The black and blue bezel, which shows wear and rotates smoothly bidirectionally, complements the dial beautifully. The all stainless steel case shows honest wear with no visible signs of oxidation. The outer edge of the case back is stamped “66071” with “FULL STEEL,””SWISS MADE,””BREV +,””587551,””SUPERWATERPROOF,””305,””AUTOMATIC” and “INCABLOC” stamped along the inner edge and “PHILIP WATCH” followed by “CARIBBEAN,””TRIPLE-SAFE” and “BREV DEM + 5292/68” stamped in the center. The crystal, which I believe to be original, shows crazing which can only be seen at certain angles and lighting conditions. While I normally show pictures of the movements of watches that I put up for sale I’m unable to show the movement in this watch as it can only be accessed through the crystal. The automatic movement with quickset date runs strong, keeps accurate time and the date wheel rolls over at 12 am. The movement received a complete overhaul in September 2021. Although no service paperwork will be provided my watchmaker’s service marking is etched on the inside of the case back. The quickset date function works flawlessly by manually rolling over a new date and then moving the hour hand repeatedly between the 20.5-24 hour marks until the desired date has been reached. After recently winding the original “P” signed crown 39 full revolutions the movement had an approximate 43 hour power reserve. The screwdown crown unscrews and screws back down without issue. When pulling the crown out to set the time there is a subtle lip between the tube and crown that determines where to gently pull….with a little practice it becomes second nature. This watch measures approximately 36 mm excluding the crown, approximately 40 mm including the crown and approximately 20 mm between the lugs. Case thickness, measured from the bottom of the case back to the top of the bezel, is approximately 10 mm. Including the crystal thickness is approximately 12.5 mm. This watch comes on its original “PHILIP WATCH,””100% STAINLESS STEEL” and “PW” stamped BOR bracelet that shows moderate wear and stretch. I’d guestimate that it may comfortably accommodate up to an approximate 6.75 inch wrist. Although the movement works as it should and keeps accurate time there are no warranties, express or implied, attached with the sale of this watch. Vintage means old and while my personal belief is that old-school means better quality and workmanship, things can and do go wrong from time to time. Any servicing costs going forward are your responsibility. Please thoroughly read this entire listing and kindly ask any and all questions you may have prior to buying as this sale is final and no refunds of any kind will be given.
